Help unlock potential. Give your time.

Your time can break down barriers to education, by volunteering.

Real people.
Real connection.
Real impact.

Atwea’s been helping people reconnect with learning for over 100 years. When you volunteer your time here, you become part of that: supporting individuals, strengthening community, and helping make education a little more accessible for someone who needs it.

Every day, people walk through our doors wanting to learn.

What they need is someone in their corner.

Join us in making education more accessible, more inclusive, and genuinely life-changing. Become a volunteer!

Education shouldn’t be out of reach for anyone.

Volunteer and make a difference

When you give your time at Atwea, you help people build confidence, connection and momentum in their learning.

There’s a volunteer role to suit however you want to show up: hands-on or behind the scenes. Our people support learners, strengthen teams, and help our campuses thrive.

An extra pair of hands to support teachers and a friendly face in the room.

Helping learners with reading, writing, numeracy or exams (including HSC readers and writers).

Practical, hands-on help keeping our campuses running smoothly.

Bring your career expertise to a workshop, a mentoring session, or a project.

Questions before you jump in?

Fair enough! Here's what people usually want to know about becoming a volunteer.

Not at all. You don’t need to be a teacher or hold formal qualifications. What matters most is showing up, listening, and being willing to support someone. We’ll guide you through the rest.

Yes! Plenty of our people are students, part-time workers, parents or retirees. We offer flexible opportunities, including short-term, casual and online options. Tell us what works for you, and we’ll find the fit.

You won’t be thrown in the deep end. You’ll get a proper induction, clear expectations, and any training relevant to your role. Plus a team who’s there if you need a check-in or a hand.

If you care about helping people learn and grow, you’re a good fit. We welcome people from all walks of life, all ages and all backgrounds. If you’re open, kind, and willing to give what you can, we’d love to meet you.

Thanks for asking because: Sure are. We take safety seriously and require all volunteers to get a Working With Children Check and Police Check. It’s a non-negotiable. But, the process to get these checks are simple and we help you through it! In fact, we pay for your Police Check 😊 On top of this, we offer some fundamental and role-specific training.

Absolutely. Book a quick, no-pressure chat with our team. We’ll talk through your interests, your time, and your skills, and help you figure out what feels right.
