Volunteer builds confidence

Cate is a volunteer with Atwea College, helping in the Diploma of Remedial Massage course. Cate assists a student with hearing impairment, sitting with her and taking notes. The trainer was concerned the student may have been missing important information and thanks to Cate’s help, she is able to gather all the information she needs.

Cate’s favourite part of volunteering is the people. She loves working with the trainer, students and staff. When Cate first went to the Hunter Volunteer Centre to find a new role, she was a little hesitant as she didn’t think she had the right skills. The role with Atwea however has given Cate newfound confidence. “The role has really brought me out of my shell as I’m rather shy.”

Cate is such a great asset to our team and it is great to see her grow in confidence.

If you are interested or know someone who would be interested in volunteering with Atwea to help our students reach their potential, please send us an email at [email protected] or call 02 4925 4200.
