After a rigorous recruitment process, the Board of Atwea College are pleased to announce the appointment of Helga Smit to CEO of Atwea College.

Helga is an accomplished executive leader with over 30 years of diverse international experience across strategy, human resources, training, and operations. She has worked in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, bringing a strong humanistic and quality-driven approach to every leadership role. Helga’s career has been defined by her ability to connect people, purpose, and outcomes, adding valuable perspective to executive teams and boards alike.

As CEO of Atwea, Helga will be responsible for steering the strategic direction and operational management of one of New South Wales’ leading providers of community-based education. She will lead a dedicated team focused on developing and delivering programs that meet the evolving needs of students and communities across the region.

For Helga, education is a long game. She believes it’s not just about getting students over the line – it’s about changing the course of their lives.
